Tour Details

One of the most popular full-day tours from Cusco is the Vinicunca Cusco tour. Every day, more than 800 hikers visit Rainbow Mountain in Cusco. In fact, it, like Machu Picchu, is at the top of many travellers’ wish lists.

The Cordillera of Vilcanota includes Apu Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. In 2016, it was discovered. The seven-colored mountain quickly gained popularity as a tourist attraction. The hues of this mountain are caused by mineral deposits, and you will be guided by a local English-speaking climbing expert who will provide us with additional knowledge on the mountain.

On this full-day excursion from Cusco to the Rainbow Mountain, you’ll see how the Andean people live in this remote part of the Peruvian highlands. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see the snow-capped top of the massive Ausangate Mountain, which dominates Cusco’s southern horizon.

Vinicunca Peru’s Rainbow Mountain is 5,200 meters (17,000 ft) above sea level. To avoid altitude sickness, it is suggested that you are physically healthy and have acclimatized before embarking on this high-altitude adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain

At 5:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your Cusco hotel. Then, in our private transportation, we will drive you for two hours via Cusco’s South Valley to Cusipata. We’ll have breakfast at a local restaurant while we’re here.

We’ll drive you to the trailhead for another hour after you’ve enjoyed a traditional and delicious breakfast.

Before beginning the trek, our guide will give you a safety briefing. If you’re not confident about hiking, you may always lease a horse from the local community.

The hike will then begin with a two-hour uphill ascent. The hike’s vista is spectacular. Views of Andean farmland will be seen. Alpacas and llamas, as well as other Andean camelids, will be grazing here.

Our guide will share some local rituals with you once you reach the summit. You’ll also get a better view of the massive Ausangate Peak. It is regarded as a sacred peak by the natives. It dominates Cusco’s southern horizon on a clear day. You can also see the red valley, which is only a few minutes away.

We’ll start our hike back to the trailhead once you’ve had your fill of this breathtaking view. We’ll return with you to Cusipata for lunch. Following lunch, we’ll drive back to Cusco for a two-hour drive.
